GORILLA WRAPS
gorilla wraps are fantastic!
These are perfect if you are looking to omit extra empty carbs from the traditional white flour wrap! As a BONUS, they work well on the go, because the "collard green wrapper" doesn't get soggy! I always make extra "meat" filling to use the next day.
RECIPE
- Sautee 5 cloves of diced garlic and 1/4 cup of white onion (roughly chopped) in some coconut oil over LOW heat
- Once the onion become translucent, add 1/2 cup of Almonds (soaked for at least 20-60 minutes, then drained and roughly chopped), 1 cup of diced mushrooms, 2 tbls of coconut aminos, 1tsp of turmeric, 1tsp of paprika, and finally a dash of sea salt and pepper
- The idea here is to keep this filling as raw as possible, so do not over cook it
- Tip: Eating raw foods will provide your body more nutrients and increase your energy levels significantly!
- Now the tricky part! It's time to roll your wrap!
- Use cooked Sweet Potato as your spread (like a dip or hummus on a tortilla)
- Next, add your "meat": Sliced Bell Peppers, Spinach Leaves & Sauerkraut.
- Fold in the sides, pulling all of your ingredients to one side and roll it up
- Tip: If you're making more than one wrap, you can use bamboo sticks to hold the wraps in place.
These ingredients may seem like an interesting mix! I wasn't quiet sure it would taste good when I first created it (I used what was left in my fridge at the time). But, that sweet potato and those spices..MMMmmmm...this one will rock your world! This particular recipe serves two with a bit of left over "meat."
